This is a long over-due update. I mentioned that I was at the launch of the Powermates for NEC. It was at the Gallery Hotel - with a room full of press and partners. Besides the high technology and the compact design, there is one little feature that I love about the P5000. It’s a USB port. What? On the top of the P5000 there are a number of slots, in which you can place items like cameras, mp3 players or mobile phones. And where does the USB come in and why did I feel excited about it?It stays on EVEN when the computer is off so you can charge stuff with the USB cable. This is one of those ideas that even Apple missed. The rest of it is nice too. Wireless keyboard and mouse are standard and all you really need is the one cable for the power. Literally NEAT. :)

I’m hosting the launch of NEC’s Powermate tomorrow (Monday) and they thought they’d let me try the product myself before I did the event for them. They even invited me to blog about it… I asked them if they were sure - coz I can be a little caustic sometimes…As you can see we set it up in the living room and hooked it to the plasma TV via VGA cable and audio link. And I’ve got to say, it’s pretty cool… What I like is the built in TV tuner that makes it easy to turn the machine into a digital video recorder - that plays back FINE on the big screen. NEC’s done a good job throwing in a 1TB drive so you’ll have lots of space for all you completely legal movies and music. Plus you can stream… yes STREAM your own content over the internet. All you need to worry about is your bandwidth (we’re on the 100 MB plan from Starhub, so we’re OK in this department). Tell you more after the launch tomorrow.
I decided to relaunch radiojoe.com - mostly because of spam. I was running the older version of Wordpress and like the original iPhone it was hacked by the spammers.
So here we are with a new everything.
I just threw out everything. Including registrations I’m afraid. So unfortunately, I’ll need you to register again. But “why do I need to register?” I hear you ask. Well we’re back at the spam again.
So pop by now and then OK? Or click on the RSS feed thing to subscribe to the feed.
What do you think of the new look?
We’re finally unpacked and settling into our new place. Moving house is tough. Leaving a place you’ve called home for some time is always hard. Tearing down the studio you’ve painstakingly and singlehandly built up to be a perfect sound booth/editing suite is DAMNED hard. All of which I’ve managed to do 3 times in the last 10 years. I dread it with a vengence each. and. every. time. And I worked hard on this one. It was a small time window to get everything set up and I only breathed a sigh of relief when I got my studio up and running, and delivered to my first client within the weekend that we moved in.
And I always say this, Never Again.
Until the next time.
